| Patchogue Bay will be temporarily turned into a floating drag strip on Sunday, Aug. 26 as nearly 50 speed boats take to the waves in the "Battle on the Bay" races, sponsored by Great South Bay racing Inc, OPA Racing and Patchogue Village.
The weekend-long event will conclude with a full day of races on Sunday.
On Friday, Aug 24, Main Street in Patchogue will be closed from North Ocean Avenue to West Avenue to allow spectators to view the boats up close and personal.
Saturday the boats will be in the pits at Shorefront Park and Firemans Park and some test runs will be held on the bay.
The races kick off on Sunday at noon with several classes and heats.
