Northport Historical Society Will Launch "Sunday At The Society," A Series Of Monthly Lectures, Performances And Demonstrations On Sunday, February 12th Beginning At 3:00pm. The Inaugural Presentation Will Feature Author And Historian Thelma Jackson-Abidally As She Presents "Northport's African-American History," A Look At The African-American Families That Once Lived In Northport And Their Struggle To Fit In A Mostly White Suburban Community. This Event Is Open To Everyone At A Cost Of $5 Per Person (Society Members Are Free).

An Entertaining And Informative Guided Walking Tour Of Northport's Historic Business District That Uses Photos From The Society's Collection. Your Guide Is A Local History Buff With A True Gift For Storytelling Who Makes Main Street's Past Come Alive. Tickets May Be Purchased The Ay Of The Tour In The Museum Shop. The Tour Begins At 1:30pm On The Front Steps Of The Museum.

The Historical Society Of Islip Hamlet Will Host A Program By William Guyon, A Purple Heart Recipient And Combat Photographer During WW II. The Historical Society Of Islip Hamlet Will Host A Program By Thomas Santorelli, Producer/Historian, On The Schuyler Parsons Estate In Islip. This Was The Gathering Place Of The Rich And Famous That Stayed There During The 1920's. Their Significance To The Stage And Movie Industry Will Be Discussed And The Influence They Had On American Culture. Photos, Some Rare, Will Be Passed Around To The Audience During The Program.
