Children Are Encouraged To Display Their Love For Animals During Bideawee’s “Love Your Pet Art Contest And Expo.” Students In Grades K-8th Can Submit Their Artwork To The Adoption Center At Bideawee In Westhampton Now Through February 5, 2012. Art Entries Must Be Accompanied By The Bideawee Art Expo Submission Form, Which Can Be Downloaded At Our Website. The First 300 Entries Will Be Displayed In The Bideawee U Learning Center In Westhampton On Saturday, February 11, 2012. All Are Invited To Come See These Expressions Of Love For Pets And Animals In Need. A $5 Donation Will Grant You Entrance Into The Show And Help Continue To Care For The Pets In Need At Bideawee. Winners From Each Grade Category Will Be Featured In Bideawee’s Monthly Newsletter And Receive Prizes.

"The Disappearing Landscape: Selections From The Hofstra University Museum". This Original Exhibition Features 27 Drawings, Paintings, Photographs, Prints And Sculpture From The Museum’s Permanent Collection Created By International Artists From The United States, Russia And Japan, Among Other Countries. The Works Of Art Date From The Early 19th Century To The 21st Century. Featured Artists Include: Alexander Calder, Harry Callahan, Lucien Clergue, Currier & Ives, Edwin Dickinson, Sally Gall, April Gornik, James McDougal Hart, Katsushika Hokusai, Donald Resnick, yevgeny Rukhin, Ivan Ivanovich Shishkin And Michael A. Smith. These Works Illustrate The Artistic Need To Capture The Ever-Changing And Disappearing Global Landscape.

The Long Island GLBT Community Center Is Proud To Announce A Series Of Rotating Exhibits Honoring Some Of The Remarkable Members Of The Diverse Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual And Transgender Community. People Who Have Made Extraordinary Contributions To Humankind. In Observance Of Black History Month, From George Washington Carver, To Today's Out And Proud Lesbian Comedian Wanda Sykes, Come Learn About Some Of The Amazing Individuals Who Continue To Grow And Shape The Way We See The World.
Exhibits Are Open For Viewing Monday-Thursday 10am-8pm And Friday 10am-5pm. Admission Is Free, However Donations To Help Support This Initiative Are Encouraged.

Barbara Roux Is A Combined-Media Artist, Poet And Active Conservationist. Her Work Focuses On The Forest And Cove Where She Lives On The North Shore Of Long Island. She Uses Her Daily Interaction With Natural Habitats To Inform Her Artistic Work. This Original Exhibition Includes Drawings, Photographs, Poetry And Sculpture. Ms. Roux Hopes To Inspire In The Viewer An Interest In Natural Habitats And, From This Interest, To Develop A Desire To Protect Them.

The Smithtown Township Arts Council’s Annual Youth Art Showcase Opens February 18 At The Mills Pond House Gallery. Highlighting The Creativity Of Young People In Suffolk County, The Exhibit Includes Artwork Created By More Than 200 Students Who Have Used Art To Express Themselves In A Wide Variety Of Creative And Exciting Ways. gallery Visitors Will Be Treated To An Eclectic Glimpse Into The Lives These Young Community Members Who Created Their Work In A Wide Variety Of Media Including Charcoal, Computer Illustration, Mixed Media Sculpture, Acrylic, Graphite, Watercolor, Ink, Digital Photography, Graphite, Oil, And Ceramic And Photography. the Exhibit Continues Through March 16.
