Something's A Foot: Small Works from the Hofstra University Museum Collection
This original and unique exhibition "Something's A Foot: Small Works from the Hofstra University Museum Collection" is curated by Karen Albert, Assistant Director of Exhibitions and Collections at the Hofstra University Museum. In this exhibition featuring varied media, all the works of art measure 12 inches or less in all directions. During the course of the exhibit, some of the objects and art will be changed to encourage multiple visits and opportunities to enjoy varied aspects of the Museum's collection. The David Filderman Gallery in the Joan and Donald E. Axinn Library is open according to the Axinn Library schedule. In This Exhibition, Internationally Renowned Photographer Mikael Levin Pairs His Photographs Of The Rural French Landscape With Excerpts From Texts That Influence Looking At And Interpreting The Contemporary Landscape. These Texts Are Meant To Suggest A Broader Reading Of The Photographs, Relating The Specific To The General, The Local To The Global. This Exhibition Is Guest Curated By Hofstra University Professor Of Fine Arts And Art History, Dan Devine.

Bell And The Peconic Bay Impressionists,” Also Curated By Terry Wallace, An Authority On American Art, Specializing In Long Island Painters. Inside And Out: The Landscapes And Interiors Of William Starkweather
American Impressionist William Starkweather’s (1879-1969) Works Will Be On Display In The New York Area As A Solo Exhibition For The First Time In 22 Years. Full Of Vitality, The Thirty-Five Watercolors And Oils On View Are From The Private Collection Of Peter Falotico. His Works Are In The Collections Of The Metropolitan Museum, The Brooklyn Museum, The Tides Institute In Maine And The Hickory Museum In North Carolina. One Of His Paintings Is To Be Included In The Metropolitan’s 2011 Calendars.
The Reception Will Be On July 16 From 6pm - 8pm. Mr. Falotico Will Present A Lecture At 5:00pm Prior To The Reception.
