Parrish Presents Séraphine (2008). Directed by Martin Provost. With Yolande Moreau, Ulrich Tukur, Anne Bennent. French; English subtitles. 125 minutes.
Séraphine is the story of Séraphine de Senlis (Yolande Moreau), a simple and devout housekeeper who in 1905, at age 41, began painting brilliantly colorful canvases. Seven years later, a German art critic and collector discovered her paintings while she worked for him as a maid. A moving and unexpected relationship develops between the avant-garde art dealer and the visionary cleaning lady leading to Séraphine's work being grouped with other naïve painters in exhibitions in France, elsewhere in Europe, and eventually in New York.

Parrish Presents Control (2007). Directed by Anton Corbijn. With Sam Riley, Samantha Morton. 122 minutes.
Control, the biography of Joy Division lead singer Ian Curtis. Shot in black-and-white by Dutch-born photographer and filmmaker Anton Corbijn, Control takes up Curtis's life when he was a teenager in Macclesfield, England. Shortly after marrying at age 19, Curtis, inspired by the Sex Pistols, formed a band called Warsaw, soon rechristened Joy Division. The film follows the band's rise, Curtis's battles with epilepsy, his marital problems, and concludes with his suicide in 1980 at the age of 23. The band made only two albums, but both were highly acclaimed, as were Curtis's lyrics.

Parrish Presents Man on Wire (2008). Directed by James Marsh. With Philippe Petit, Jean Francois Heckel, Jean-Louis Blondeau. 94 minutes.
Man on Wire, winner of the Oscar for Best Documentary Feature in 2009, chronicles Philippe Petit's 1974 high-wire walk between the towers of the World Trade Center. Director James Marsh has said he was drawn to the story because he saw it as a "heist movie," and the film uses rare footage of the preparation for the event, still photographs of the nearly one-hour walk, reenactments, and interviews with the participants.

Dance to a live band and feast on hors d'oeuvres, while mingling over cocktails in the Museum's galleries and concert hall. Cast your bids in the fabulous silent auction featuring a fine selection of goods and services donated by the local East End business community. Help support the Museum's educational programs by becoming an underwriter, purchasing tickets, or donating to the silent auction for this always sold-out event.
Tickets for Spring Fling are $100 for Museum members, $150 for nonmembers. Patron tickets are $175 and Young Professional tickets (for those under age 30 with ID) are $85.
