The Butterfly House
Sweetbriar Nature Center's Butterfly and Moth Vivarium, Long Island's first living seasonal butterfly display, was created in 1997, with funds donated by the Smithtown Rotary Club. Our 30' x 50' screened enclosure is home to over 20 species of native North American butterflies and moths complete with lush vegetation and flowers necessary for their survival. Walk through our beautiful butterfly house and surround yourself with over 200 butterflies, learning the various stages of the butterfly's lifecycle from chrysalis to adult butterfly. Children's craft provided. All ages.

4th Annual Huntington Lighthouse Music Fest
Celebrate Labor Day weekend at the 4th Annual Huntington Lighthouse Music Fest! Cap off this summer's boating season at the only music festival to be held on top of a working lighthouse in the middle of the water. The festival is free and is not accessible by land. If you do not have a boat, charter transportation will be available (fee-based).
On Saturday, September 4 gather up your friends, family, and lots of food, and head to the entrance to Huntington. Enter Lloyd Harbor and drop anchor or raft up around the lighthouse, which is transformed for this day into a music stage. Extraordinary bands of all musical genres will perform live from the top of the Lighthouse to a mooring field of over 700 boats. Boats of all sizes and kinds will be able to enjoy the music from 11 am until sunset and landlubbers will be able to hop on board a charter vessel for the day! The ever-colorful group of crazy pirates from “Ye Pyrate Brotherhood” will be holding up ships for bounty to fundraise for the ongoing preservation of the Huntington Lighthouse.
